The Rena Chetram Memorial Bell Fund

Bell in tower.jpg

Named after Mrs. Rena Chetram, who died in early-2021, she was a lover of the bells and longed to hear them ringing again. With seed money from her family, a fund was established to get the bells ringing again. The first bell has been fitted with a new striking mechanism and is ringing again! The cost was just over $17,000. Restoration of the remaining four bells will cost $7,200 per bell. When finished, a five-bell peal will be possible. Please help us make this a reality.

Contributions can be made anonymously, or on behalf of a loved one, in celebration of a life event. Click the button below to make a donation to the Bell Fund.

125th Anniversary
Vestment Appeal

vestments.jpeg

Our beautiful vestments that are worn by the priest and the hangings that adorn the altar and chancel are in bad condition—some beyond repair—and all need to be replaced. The ones we are using are a mixture of vestments we brought from Richmond Hill and those we inherited from St. Matthew’s, so none of our sets matches.

Beginning with our 125th Anniversary Celebration this November, we are launching an appeal to purchase new complete sets in white, green, and violet (our most frequently used liturgical colors). Each set would include a frontal for the high altar, hangings for the pulpit and lectern, a bourse and veil for the chalice, a chasuble and stole. A new white set is being custom-made in time for Easter at a cost of $10,000. These vestments are expensive, but they will be an investment that will last for the next 50 years or more. Sets in the other colors will be purchased over the next 3-5 years.

Contributions toward vestments can be made to the Altar Guild on behalf of a loved one, in celebration of a life event, or anonymously. Please click the button below if you would like to make a donation to the Altar Guild toward the purchase of new vestments.
